Yesterday was a sunny day and was must go out day. So we decided ( Zamgeo , me and a third friend ) to go to Byblos. The roads were almost empty , and few cars were heading north( Since most of the lebanese were either watching TV , or in the DT supporting the 14th of march (WHATEVER….)
As always Byblos stole the attention of our friend and he was taking pictures of the place, so happy of the sea , sun , the historical places, and the stories told by stones and the old streets. Lunch was at Finiqia, the food was yummy(Kafta, Tawouk, Grill Steak…) and for a moment I thought this is the perfect place for tourist to see a nice image of Lebanon…
After we decided to to walk in the old SOUK. All the vitrines were full of lebanese stuff, but for my luck what caught my attention was the bamboo stick.
I took one stick to check and the sales man came next to me trying to sell his stuff,
” TAKE IT, ITS ONLY 1000, ITS PERFECT FOR HITTING THE WOMEN”
I was shocked and didnt know how to react.
” WE ALL HAVE MOTHERS, WIVES, SISTERS, AND DAUGHTERS, I’M SURE YOU DONT WANT YOUR MOTHER TO BE BEATEN WITH THIS STICK, NOR YOU WANT YOUR DAUGHTER TO BE WHIPPED WITH IT”, I replied.
“SO YOUR ARE ACTING LIKE THE AMERICANS, BELIEVE ME WOMEN ARE LIKE RUGS WHEN YOU HIT THEM THEY BECOME BETTER….”
I felt for a moment that i want to slap him with the stick or anything to shut the shit he was saying… but i prefered to leave him since i was sure that any talking to him will be useless…
I really felt ashamed of such level of people we have in our society… even if what he said was a joke, but still this is a fact in that till now there are women beaten and men who think that beating women makes them better….
ITS PERFECT FOR HITTING THE WOMEN.
